How To Use This Site
Dear Customer,
Thank you for visiting Peterson's Customer Care Center. The Center has been designed for optimum
ease of use. Below is a list of explanations and/or instructions of important words, phrases, and elements that
appear throughout the site.

- Logon Screen
- The logon screen is the opening screen of Peterson's Customer Care Center.
The middle of the screen describes what you can do at the Center.
- If you do not know your client ID, please contact a Peterson's
Client Relations Representative.
- Enter Client ID/Enter Password
- You're required to enter a client ID and password to use this site. If you forget
your password, click on the link, "Did you forget your password" You will
find a space to enter your client ID. Click "Send" and Peterson's will e-mail your
password back to you.
- Log On
- After you've entered your client ID and password, click
LOG ON and you will be taken to the Services screen.
- Services Screen
- The Services screen contains a list of all the services that
your institution has purchased from Peterson's for which you are the
point of contact for providing the content. On this screen, you can see
exactly what you've ordered and update the appropriate items as
needed. You can print items, such as the manuscript of your In-Depth Description or your Service Agreement.
- Below is an explanation of each of the components of the Services screen,
starting with the Menu bar at the top of the screen.
- Menu Bar (at top of the screen)
- On each screen throughout the Customer Care Center, you will
be able to access the following menu items.
- Logout
- Logs you out of the Customer Care Center. You may
log back on to the Peterson's Customer Care Center at any time.
- Help
- Here is where you can contact Peterson's support via e-mail or phone. Or, send
a comment to Peterson's using the e-mail message box.
- Peterson's Services
- Refers to the services screen. Once you've linked off the services screen, clicking
on Peterson's Services will bring you back to the Services screen.
- How to Use this Site
- General instructions on how to use the Customer Care Center.
- FAQ
- A list of common questionsand their answersrelated to using the Customer Care Center.
- Logout
- Logs you out of the Customer Care Center. You may
log back on to the Peterson's Customer Care Center at any time.
- Customer Information
The customer information section of the screen displays
basic information about your Peterson's account: Account number, your name, title, and your institution's
address. If any of the information needs to be changed, please call a
Client Relations Representative at 1-800-338-3282, Ext. 54225
(outside the U.S., 1-609-896-1800, Ext. 54225) Monday through Friday
8:30 - 4:30 Eastern Time.
- List of Services (columns left to right)
The List of Services contains all the services that have been
purchased by your institution for which you are the point of contact for providing the content.
Once a service is cancelled it is removed from the list. The icons displayed to the right
of the item description correspond to the type of service that you have purchased, e.g.
Link Manager, School Spotlight and Service Agreement.
- Confirm Order
- Use this column to confirm each sale. This is done by Clicking the Confirm icon; once an item is confirmed the confirm icon will disappear and you will be able to download documents, update web links, etc. Orders entered with signed reservations do not need to be confirmed again.
- Order #
- This column contains a unique number for each service
that you have purchased from Peterson's. Each
order number contains a 6 or 7 digit number followed by a
1 to 3 digit number, e.g. 285294-1 or 285294-2.
In this case the base order number is 285294.
The number following the hyphen is the first,
or second, or third item (and so on) that has been placed with
order number 285294. When calling a Peterson's Client Relations Representative with questions about a service,
please reference the order number.
- Item
- This is a generic description of the
service. If you've purchased the same service for a variety of departments or
schools, this column contains the same item description for each service.
- Department/Program
- This column lets you know the specific department or program designation of the service
you've purchased. For example, if you have purchased several Graduate
services, the unique department/program designation of each is listed here.
- Manuscript MS Word
- This is where the manuscript for each item your purchased appears. You can edit your manuscript using Microsoft® Word. Download the word document by Clicking on the Word icon in the Manuscript MS Word column of the appropriate item. Click Save to Disk to save a copy of the manuscript to your computer.
Use Microsoft Word to make changes directly to you manuscript and then email the edited document to: customercare@petersons.com
- Manuscript PDF (formerly Doc)
- This is where the manuscript of each item you have purchased
appears. Peterson's maintains a copy of your
manuscript as a PDF file. Clicking the PDF icon will open Adobe® Acrobat® which
displays your manuscript. You can make unlimited reprints of your manuscript as a handy summary of your school or program.
- School Spotlight
- The icons that appears in this column displays your School Close-Up. Clicking on the spotlight
icon will take you to the School Spotlight Manager screen where you can update and change your spotlight
content. Access to your School Spotlight content through the Spotlight Manager is year round and unlimited.
- Links
- This column, refers to the set
of links, Instant Inquiry e-mail addresses and site visit URLs, that
are currently associated with your service. Clicking
on the links icon will take you to the Link Manager screen where
you can update and change your links. Access to your links
through our Link Manager is year round and unlimited.
- Service Agreement
- In this column you can access the Service
Agreement for each service you've purchased. Peterson's maintains a copy of your
Service Agreement as a PDF file. Clicking the PDF icon will open Adobe® Acrobat Reader® which
displays your Service Agreement.
- School Spotlight Manager Screen
- The School Spotlight Manager screen enables you to enter, update, and delete the content associated with your School Spotlight. There are four components to a School Spotlight: text for a Message from the College, two Campus News articles, and a photograph.
- Message from the College: You can edit and/or update the 700-character message in the text box provided.
- Campus News Article 1 and Article 2: You can edit and/or update the 100-character titles and the 7,000-character articles using the text boxes provided.
- On the School Spotlight Manager screen you also will see the photo that is currently on your School Spotlight screen. This too can be changed online. You will see an Image Upload box. It is recommended that photos be no more than 15k in size and be in either gif or jpg format.
- Click on the "Update" button to submit your changes. Peterson's will send you e-mail notification that the revisions have been performed.
- Link Manager Screen
- The Link Manager screen enables you to enter, update and delete the links associated with your service. There are four types of links that may be associated with a service: Instant Inquiry e-mail addresses, Colleges/GradSchools Want You e-mail address, Site Visit URL, and Custom Application URL.
- The Instant Inquiry e-mail address has been assigned to the Instant Inquiry that appears on the online pages on Petersons.com.
- The Colleges/GradSchools Want You e-mail address will be used to send qualified user leads to you.
- The Site Visit URL is the web address that viewers of your page will use to visit your Web site from Petersons.com.
- The Custom Application URL is the Web address that viewers of your page will use to access your institution's on-line application.
You can edit and or
update your Instant Inquiry e-mail addrees, Colleges/GradSchools Want You e-mail address, Site Visit URL, and Custom Application URL address in the text boxes provided.
- Click the "Update" button to submit your changes. Peterson's will send you an e-mail notification when the revisions have been performed.
- Help Screen
- The Help screen is where you can contact Peterson's Client Services or if you want to make a comment or suggestion as to how Peterson's can better serve you.
- Contact a customer service representative via e-mail or phone. If your browser does not support the form that's on the Help screen, send a regular e-mail to customercare@petersons.com. If your browser does support the form, enter your message in the space provided and click Send Comments to Peterson's to send your message.
