Lincoln University
Founded in 1854, Lincoln University is the country's first degree-granting HBCU (Historically Black College and University). Since its beginning, the university has attracted an international and interracial student body from surrounding communities, the region, and other nations. Its most notable alumni include Poet Langston Hughes ('29) and former Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of the United States Thurgood Marshall ('30).
The university continues to cultivate leaders and achievers. It offers approximately 2,000 students more than 35 liberal arts and science-based undergraduate programs; graduate programs in business, counseling, education, and human services; and a variety of continuous education courses.
Its learning environment emphasizes concern for each student, quality education, and small classes. As a result, students graduate prepared to create successful careers in today's fast-paced, technology-based, global environment.
Bachelor of Science (BS) in Accounting
The BS in Accounting prepares students for careers as Certified Public Accountants (CPAs). Its curriculum provides professional and technical knowledge of accounting theory and practice. It also exposes students to specific areas of accounting including accounting information systems, audit, financial and managerial accounting, international accounting, and taxation.
BS in Biology
The BS in Biology strengthens students' knowledge of foundational areas in biology at the cellular, ecosystem, molecular, and organismal levels. It also trains students to conduct original scientific investigations and communicate their research and findings to interested parties.
Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Computer Science
The BA in Computer Science trains students to design, develop, and test computer programs in languages like Assembly, C++, Java, and Visual BASIC. It also trains students to read, analyze, organize, store, and utilize data by creating graphical user interface forms, developing database design and modeling, and using data structures.
BS in Criminal Justice
The BS in Criminal Justice provides students with in-depth information about how the criminal justice system works at the local, state, and federal levels. It explains how interactions between criminal justice institutions and the people in these settings change over time. It also provides awareness about how different social forces impact the types and rates of criminal behavior.
BS in Engineering Science
The BS in Engineering Science includes coursework in civil, computer, electrical, and environmental engineering. It trains students to use engineering, mathematics, and science principles to solve problems. It also prepares them to design and conduct experiments as well as analyze and interpret data.
BA in Music Performance
The BA in Music Performance provides a creative and broad music curriculum that emphasizes band instrument, orchestral instrument, piano, and voice. Through research, lectures, and rigorous practice, students gain the performance skills and knowledge to pursue careers as educators and/or performers.
Registered Nurse (RN) to Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
The RN to BSN program develops nurse leaders skilled at providing high quality, holistic, patient-centered nursing care. Areas of study include leadership, population health, professional roles and values, and research. The program is offered part-time either online or on-campus.

Marilyn Button serves as chair of the Department of Languages and Literature, Professor Monica Gray whose credentials include a PhD, MPH, CPH and PE, is advisor to several student-centered organizations, and Professor James Wadley chair of the Counseling and Human Services department are among the university's dedicated faculty.
